Bit of a rough old day for Philip Green today.  No longer a Knight of the British Empire and savaged by our MPs - and let's face it, they're so well known for their morals, upstanding behaviour and being pillars of the community.  Still I'm sure his billions will help ease the pain along with a night on the tiles with Kate Moss.

Made a mental note to self, whatever I end up doing next, I must ensure I share their values - i.e. "If you swim with sharks, you risk getting bitten" or in Mr Green's world "Swim with Mr Green, risk all your assets being plundered, being sold to a financially illiterate bankrupt, and the icing on the cake - losing your job and your pension".  Do you think he sleeps well at night?

Funemployment Goal Progress
  • Did yoga.
  • Started not one, but two books.
  • Walked past guitar shop and looked in window, tomorrow maybe I'll pluck up the courage to actually go in...

Peace out and sweet dreams Mr Green X

Funemployment squeeze the day
Last week in a nutshell...

I had a job I loved.
I was made redundant, very unexpectedly.
It sucked, I was blindsided, I cried until I got hiccups.

Still...life goes on and six months gardening leave is not to be sneezed at.  Cue lots of time on Instagram searching for inspirational quotes, if only changing your life was as easy as posting a photo sunset photo with a filter.

Friends keep telling me it was a lucky escape, which I sort of agree with except for my #dreamteam who are epically awesome and I miss them so much it makes my tummy hurt.

They say that change breeds opportunity, so here's a list of things I'm going to do whilst I'm funemployed.

1. Write a weekly blog (tick - well, sort of).
2. Learn to play the guitar.
3. Smile and laugh every goddamn day.
4. Travel...a lot.
5. Go on lots of dates
6. Travel some more.
7. Aim to like one of my dates enough to include him in my life.
8.
Practise yoga at least three times a week.
9. Read for an hour a day from a real book - not a screen.
10. Work out WTF to do with the rest of my life (I'm 45, clever, single, solvent and the only baggage I have is my adorable Jack Russell Terrier).

Feel free to stick around and follow my adventures.  If not, I'm sure there's something else on the world wide web you can be wasting precious time on instead.

A bientot, X

Where am I this week?

about me

I started this blog a week after very unexpectedly being made redundant.  In part it's a coping mechanism, in part it's way to make sure I don't fall back into the soul-less rat race of being a number in someone else's spreadsheet- but mainly it's to track my funemployment adventures.
